After two weeks back on Plan, I’ve decided to take the next step in my Slimming World journey: Body Magic. This isn’t just an exercise programme, it’s about discovering an active lifestyle that works for me, at my pace, in a way that feels sustainable.
What I love about Body Magic is that it’s tailored to real life. It’s not about throwing myself into a hardcore workout, unless that’s what I choose to do, but if you know me well enough, you know that this is not going to happen. It’s about starting from where I am right now. For me, that means something simple and achievable: morning walks with my next-door neighbour. It’s free, it gets me moving, and it’s a habit I can actually see myself sticking with.
I’ve linked my Fitbit to the Slimming World app so my steps are tracked automatically. My personal target is 10,000+ steps a day. Not because I want to be tied to a number, but because I know that every step helps me feel healthier, happier, and more confident in my own skin.
I’ll be using the Body Magic Diaries section of the blog to track my daily activity, just as I do with my Food Diaries. My hope is that it will become a regular feature you can follow along with encouraging you to lace up your walking shoes, pop on your favourite podcast, I recommend The Slimming World Podcast with Anna and Claire, and carve out a little bit of “me time” each day.
How Body Magic works
Body Magic is built around the idea of creating small, healthy habits that add up to lifelong change. It helps me:
- Overcome the barriers I’ve had around exercise.
- Build activity into my daily routine, step by step.
- Try new things with easy-to-follow activity videos (there are more than 90, from seated sessions to full-on 30-minute workouts!).
- Celebrate progress with Body Magic awards, from the first little milestone, the Magic Mover Award, all the way up to Platinum.
The awards are a brilliant motivator. They remind me that it’s not about how fast I go, but about building consistency and celebrating every milestone along the way. And the best bit? Every time I reach an award, not only do I get a certificate, but I also get a shiny sticker for the back of my book. It might sound small, but those stickers mean a lot, they’re a reminder of each step forward and a visible celebration of my progress.
Using the Weekly FITT Log
One of the most useful Body Magic tools is the Weekly FITT log (Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type). It’s a simple way to track my activity, spot patterns, and plan for progress, in a similar way as we did with the SAS daily log ask your consultant for a Weekly FITT log at your next meeting and start working towards your own Body Magic goals.
Here’s how I’m using mine:
- FREQUENCY aiming to walk every morning, plus extra movement built into the day.
- INTENSITY starting at a gentle pace, then gradually increasing speed as my stamina builds.
- TIME beginning with 20–30 minutes a day, working towards longer sessions.
- TYPE mostly walking to begin with, but I’ll add other activities I enjoy, like swimming or dance classes, or maybe even some strength training, but on my terms, when I’m ready.

The Weekly FITT log also helps me spot the barriers that might trip me up (like weather, tiredness, or busy days) and put strategies in place to keep me moving.

Small steps, big changes
Slimming World research shows that after just three months, members felt more positive about physical activity than the general population, reporting that it made them feel happier, healthier, more confident, and better about their bodies. And that’s what I’m aiming for, not just weight loss, but a stronger, fitter, more confident me.
This is just the beginning of my Body Magic Diaries. I’ll be sharing my progress, the challenges, and the wins as I build new habits, starting with those morning walks, logging them in my FITT tracker, and step by step, moving towards a future that feels lighter, brighter and healthier.
Progress over perfection
So, as I step into this new chapter with Body Magic, I’m choosing progress over perfection. Every walk, every logged step, every small habit is a victory worth celebrating. My hope is that as I share my journey here, it not only keeps me accountable but also inspires you to find your own way of moving more. Whether it’s a gentle stroll, a dance in the kitchen, or something bigger down the line, let’s remind ourselves that every step really does count, towards a healthier body, a brighter mind, and a lifestyle we’ll love for life.
