It’s Saturday, and I’ve spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen preparing Mac & Cheese for our church’s 40th Anniversary tomorrow. Three big dishes are ready to go. enough to feed a small army and the neighbours; in fact I dropped off a tub for the family next door as I had ran out of oven dishes. Cooking in bulk is tiring, and with all that cheese grating I actually lost my appetite. But thanks to a high-protein lunch, I didn’t feel deprived.

Reflections
Cooking in bulk today reminded me how much I love serving others and how I can stay on plan while doing it. Even tasting the Mac & Cheese sauce, I chose to count the Syns rather than ignore them. It’s these little acts of honesty that keep me accountable.
I also spent some quiet time practicing my reading for tomorrow’s service, preparing not just the food for the congregation, but my food for the soul as well.
“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.” (Ephesians 6:7)
